Welcome! I'm an evolutionary biologist with a broad interest in systematics, speciation, and ichthyology. My research integrates genomic, morphological, and ecological data to answer questions guided by natural history. Most of my work is centered on North American freshwater fishes, but I have also dabbled in anoles, frogs, and even copepods!
I completed my PhD in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department at Yale University. After my PhD, I was awarded a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biology to study parallel evolution within versus between species. Currently, I am a postdoctoral research scientist at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Follow my research updates on Bluesky @dmacguig.bsky.social or Mastodon @[email protected].
